OUR HISTORY

Woodburn Reservoir was built way back in 1874 to supply the burgh of Kirkintilloch with drinking water.

Now in 2013, we are going to see the opening of our new trout fishery, with crystal clear water and an abundance of natural feeding in it. Over the past few years, the fish have been thriving and the most beautiful hard fighting fish have returned.

You can fly fish from the boat or all around the resevoir on the many fishing stances provided. We also have a bait pond with 19 stances which is great for families – worm and maggot only.

A good fishery needs good trout. That’s why we will only be stocking with grade A trout with a minimum weight of 2lbs all the way up to 20lbs. Plus we have two large rearing tanks on site to bring on our own fish which means we can control quality and size for restocking.

We are a new fishery but not new to fishing and in time we hope to make it one of the best fisheries around. The quality and size of our brown trout are awesome, record caught to date is 13lbs with the largest rainbow caught to date 18lbs.

We hope to see you soon for a enjoyable great days fishing.

OUR FACILITIES

We also have a coffee shop on site offering a range of hot and cold drinks, filled rolls, hot pies and more.

We now also have holiday cottages available to rent. Situated in the foothills of the Campsie Fells, these lodges boast stunning views over open countryside. For more information and availability, please check out our ‘Holiday Lodges‘ page.
